In a hidden village in the Colombian Pacific, an Afro community has appropriated the celebration of Holy Week from its African roots. Far from clerical control, with autonomy in religious practices, the inhabitants have carried out a cultural resistance from the celebration of the “Semana Mayor (Holy Week)”. In them, the matachines come to life and after a process of appropriation and rooting, they became the representatives of the spiritual celebrations of the community.
