Gregorio is a peasant living in frustration in his town of Rosillas. He, proud and daring, sets out to reclaim the waters of the old irrigation ditch for his family, which were diverted by Colonel Iglesias, an Argentine landowner and neighbor, allied in conspiracy with the mayor of the town for their own vine crops. Along the way, Gregorio has to confront communal apathy, corruption, and the socio-economic power of the elite.
